The District Level
Key Club International is divided into separate districts, which are administrated by a District Board. Each member of the board has a different job, but every person is essential. With a strong District Board, Key Club has a huge opportunity to develop and flourish. These are the positions that make up the District Board:
District Governor
The governor, without a doubt, has many huge responsibilities. They are expected to provide the district with the right guidance and leadership throughout the year that they have been elected. District Governors are elected at their district's District Convention by a selected House of Delegates. After taking office, the governor takes on many tasks; training, communications, building new clubs, and support of recruitment are only a few of these acquired duties. Overall, the District Governor presides over their district and is in authority of the District Board.
Governor's Administrative Assistant (GAA)
The District Governor's Administrative Assistant is appointed likewise. Over the course of the year, they assist the governor in accomplishing their duties. They are required to grade newsletters, along with anything else the governor may need. The District Governor's Administrative Assistant relieves the District Governor in work load and is a vital position to a well-working Key Club district.
District Secretary-Treasurer
The district voted at the 2012 District Convention to combine the position of District Secretary and District Treasurer into the postion of District Secretary-Treasurer beginning in the 2013-2014 Key Club Year. The Sec-Tres of every Key Club district is accountable for the district's finances, as well as, taking minutes at every meeting of the District Board. This person has to be organized and has to know how Key Club really works at every level. Key Club would be very dysfunctional without a dependable, consistent, and trustworthy District Secretary-Treasurer.
District Bulletin Editor
The person liable for the district's public relations is known at the District Bulletin Editor. One is appointed to this position by the newly elected District Governor. They are in charge of sharing news and promoting projects of the district. Good writing and communication skills help the bulletin editor to accomplish their job to the best of their abilities. Essentially, the District Bulletin Editor keeps everyone around the district informed and updated.
Lieutenant Governors
Each district is divided into smaller divisions. A lieutenant governor is elected by members of a certain division at District Convention and presides over them for the upcoming year. They are required to host trainers, keep in contact with the division, keep the clubs in their division functioning, and many other obligations. The Lieutenant Governor is the liaison between the club level and the district level of Key Club.
Committee Chairs
There are eight standing committees in the West Virginia District. Chairs of these positions are decided and appointed by the District Governor. The chairs take on the role of being in charge of their committees. They set goals, present ideas for projects, and communicate with the rest of the district to keep it working as efficiently as possible. The committees make Key Club what it is, and the Committee Chairs assume the important command of these committees.
International Trustee
An International Trustee is a member on the International Board. They are assigned an area of districts that they oversee. They work alongside the International Board as well as providing leadership and resources to the members of their districts. The International Trustee is the direct liaison between the international level and the district level of Key Club.
The 2017 - 2018 District Board of Trustees has taken on these responsibilities. They are expected to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. With hard work and cooperation among the members of these positions, the West Virginia District Key Club can grow and prosper in service. The most important person in Key Club is the member, but with a strong District Board, the members can thrive even more.
