Governor's Project
This service year's Governor Project is: Project Need.
Project Need aims toward finding children, teens, mothers, fathers, and families in West Virginia basic needs. These needs include food, hygiene products, clothes, and care. To take care of food, non-perishable food items, baked goods, "Birthday bags," baby formula, or anything in between can be given to all of those who are in great need.
Hygiene products include toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, diapers, feminine products, soap, combs, and any other items that you may think of.
Project Need was inspired by seeing the need for basic items in West Virginia. Did you know that West Virginia’s median salary is $10,000 below the poverty line? Or what about the fact that 1 in 5 children in West Virginia are “food insecure,” meaning that they don’t know if they will get a meal when they get home from school. I believe Governor Project: Need is a means to solve these problems.
